Frequently Asked Questions:
- Is dyslexia tutoring at North Florida Learning different from larger, "chain" tutoring centers?
Yes! We provide one-on-one evidence-based instruction based on each student's unique needs. Our dyslexia tutoring services are designed to be intensive, focused interventions to help "retrain the brain" to strengthen specific neurological pathways in order to learn to read. Larger tutoring centers have been known to utilize group methods, with less individualized attention. Additionally, the methods used at "chain" learning centers are not specific to the dyslexic reader.
- How often should my child receive dyslexia tutoring?
Instruction for dyslexia must be more intensive and offer more practice than for regular readers. We recommend dyslexia tutoring at least three times a week for results. We have found that more frequent instruction produces greater results. Although dyslexia is lifelong, individuals with dyslexia frequently respond successfully to interventions that are both appropriate and implemented as soon as possible.
